Town Hall Reflection

The Old South & the "Peculiar Institution" - IHS_APUSH

Every student in my class was give a person that was either for slavery or Anti Slavery, I did John Brown for my character. It was a good debate, many characters brought up many good points. But in the end, I think Anti-Slavery won because it is hard to debate for pro-slavery and the other team did try their best.

Representatives for Pro & Anti Slavery

Pro Slavery- For people like James Henry Hammond, from our point of view they were delusional, for they said slavery was the only thing that gave them purpose and the only thing they would be good for. Also Kingston did buy all his wives at a slave house.

Anti Slavery- It's funny, you never thought that the person who abolished slavery was in the pros section, but before he was elected, Abraham Lincoln was for pro-slavery, for he made comments in public that moved to representing slavery. Once he was elected though, he did everything in his power to put in end to slavery, starting with the Civil War.

In the end, Anti-slavery always won because even some of the slave owners or Pro slavery characters did change their minds during the time of slavery, like for another example Thomas Jefferson.
